The Role

We are looking for a friendly, reliable, and enthusiastic Nursery Assistant to join our team. This role involves working both with customers and behind the scenes to ensure our plants are well cared for and beautifully presented.
This position may be offered on a part-time basis, with flexibility required to meet seasonal demand.

Key Responsibilities
• Assisting and serving customers in a professional and helpful manner
• Operating PDQ and EPOS tills accurately
• Providing basic plant advice (training can be given)
• Watering, caring for, and maintaining plant stock
• Potting and planting as required
• Ensuring the nursery area is clean, tidy, and well-presented
• Supporting general day-to-day operations of the garden centre

Key Requirements
• Strong customer service skills and a positive attitude
• Comfortable using PDQ and EPOS systems (or willingness to learn)
• An interest in plants and gardening (plant knowledge is useful but not essential)
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
• Good attention to detail and a hands-on approach
• Physically able to carry out tasks such as lifting, watering, and moving plants

The Role

This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys working outdoors and isn’t afraid of physical work. You’ll be involved in the day-to-day running of the nursery, supporting plant care, assisting with small works, and helping deliver products to customers.

Key Responsibilities
• Assisting with general nursery tasks and maintenance
• Supporting small works around the nursery site
• Handling, moving, and caring for plants and shrubs
• Preparing and loading deliveries
• Delivering plants and shrubs to customers across the island
• Maintaining a clean, safe, and organised work environment

Key Requirements
• Comfortable with manual labour and outdoor work in all weather conditions
• Good overall health and physical fitness
• Full, clean driving licence (essential)
• Positive attitude and willingness to learn
• Reliable, punctual, and a team player

Desirable (but not essential)
• Previous experience in horticulture or landscaping
• Basic plant knowledge
