Native hedging - field maple. Deciduous, with green leaves in spring/summer, turning yellow in autumn. Moist but well-drained soil, full sun or part-shade, exposed or sheltered locations. Very good for wildlife. Attractive to aphids and their predators such as ladybirds & birds, some moths feed on the leaves, the flowers are a nectar source for insects and birds, and the fruits attractive to small mammals.
